Vintage Baseball Meets Modern

Days of old play out at McCoy Stadium

By Les Cote & The Iron Leaf Press Team August 9, 2015

On rare occasions fans are given the privilege of watching an authentic vintage 1884 baseball game being played on a professional baseball field like McCoy Stadium. Today, August 9th, 2015 we had that opportunity. The Providence Grays vs New Hampshire Granite played an exciting four inning pre-game opener for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Grays took the field first as the Granites pummeled in four runs to get things started. The Grays answered back with a couple of their own at the top of the inning. From that point on, both teams had multiple hits, stolen bases and runs cycling through home plate. In the end The Providence Grays won 12 – 6.
